Mizoram University was established with authority from the Mizoram University Act of the Parliament of India on 2 July 2001.
Established by Act of Parliament (No.8 of 2000), the University was ceremonially inaugurated on 2nd July 2001 and has since then been serving the people since.
In 2019, Mizoram University’s excellence got an ‘A’ grade from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. Afterward, the University got a ranking in the top 100 Indian universities by the NIRF rankings three years in a row (2016, 2017, and 2018), as assessed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
With 33 departments spread across 8 Schools of Study, the University provides an unparalleled collection of programs, including undergraduate, postgraduate, M.Phil., and Ph.D. courses.
The University was one of the first to recognize the potential of the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) and has successfully implemented the system since 2013.
The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has awarded Mizoram University an A grade with a score of 3.16/4.
Mizoram University ranked at 67th place in the category of universities.
According to the NIRF Report 2022, a total of 76 out of 1,115 UG and PG students got placement during MZU placements 2021. The median package offered to UG and PG students was INR 5.10 LPA and INR 1.80 LPA during placements 2021.
